MORALIAAbout

One story a day. One hard choice.

Moralia is a daily moral dilemma from history. Each day brings one true story — a general at a city gate, a diplomat with a pen, a king walking into his enemy's tent — told up to the exact moment someone had to decide.

The story stops there, and you choose. Only then do you see what really happened, how other players chose, and what the great philosophers would have said about your answer.

How a day works

Read. A short story, a few minutes long, from a real moment in history or a story the world still tells.

Choose. Two options, each with its own reason. There is no right answer, and you can't change yours once it's made.

See. What history actually chose, how everyone else split, and two philosophers weighing in — one with you, one against.

Come back tomorrow. A new story arrives every day. Your answers build a road of the days you've walked.

The four Houses

Every story belongs to one of four Houses — four old ways of weighing a hard choice.

House of the Oath

Some lines are never crossed.

House of the Scales

Weigh everything. Choose what works.

House of the Flame

People before plans.

House of the Storm

The old world must make room.

The figures

Every story ends with someone who lived it. As you play, you meet them: emperors, rebels, nurses, philosophers. A few come from myth and literature rather than history — Antigone, Odysseus, Prometheus, Priam — and are marked Legend. Over time, Moralia shows which of them your choices sit closest to. It is a mirror, not a personality test.

Questions

Is Moralia free?
Yes. Every story is free to play.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play without signing up. Signing in is optional: it keeps your answers safe across devices, and it's how you find out which figure you're closest to.
How often is there a new story?
One a day. Everyone gets the same story on the same day, and a new one arrives at midnight your time.
I missed a day. Can I catch up?
Yes. Each day, two stories fit: today's, and one you missed. Missed days stay open, so you can catch up one at a time.
Can I change my answer?
No. Your first answer is the one that counts — that's the point.
Are the stories true?
Most are real moments from history, told as closely as the sources allow. The few from myth and literature are marked Legend.
